you know i have one recommendation for NUS.

make all exams open book.

let me illustrate very clearly the Pros:
1. a very strong indication to students that we are moving towards *creativity* and *critical* thinking because (a) if everyone has the book in front of them you'll be stupid to copy so in order to stand out and get the A+ you'll havta make use of your intelligence and (b) we all know an outstanding answer is one that thinks out of the box and in doing so demonstrates *creativity* and *critical thinking*
2. you get to mark scripts that are a whole lot more interesting (as aforementioned)
3. you get to set even more difficult papers
4. you have a legitimate excuse to set skyhigh expectations
5. everyone's happier
6. singapore is more likely to produce intelligent graduates that don't look/sound/write like they are fresh out of the manufacturing firm of nus/ntu/whathaveyou

Pros list is definitely inexhaustible but right now i've got to get back to studying sociology.

OPEN BOOK?!?!

did i mention i wish for open book soci exams already?

i wish for open book soci exams. and lit too. and openbook for all the modules i do.

...-shrugz- oh well it never hurts to hope. :D
