:: matriculation | choices ::
feels funny. been looking forward so long to starting university, everyone all hyped up and ready for anything. and yet now it's here, i feel, if anything, humongously stressed.
let's start with
matriculation.
matriculation. was really wondering what it's all about. in a nutshell, it's just a day for freshies to get all the paperwork done. suddenly you feel really important, cruising up and down the various aisles and registering yourself. you feel really,
Labelled. they identify you by your NRIC number, followed by your Matriculation number, followed by your SMART Card PIN number, etc etc. this is where you REALLY feel like a
face in the crowd. *oh well* lol.
anyway after the matriculation, there're those little luxuries to satisfy. Notebooks -- IBM, HP, Fujitsu, iBook (oomph!! yeah!), Toshiba.......blahz. blabber blabber. You look at this model and you think, oh COOL this is JUST what i'm looking for, and Yeah it's way outta ur budget too. dun wanna spend ur money UNwisely. thoughts thoughts.
and then there are the CCAs. yeapz. you move thru a Maze of people, a Maze of bright and Loud banners, and people.
"Hi, would you like to take a look at TaeKwondo? oh how about Choir?" And so on and so forth. hahaha. i signed up for everything, and smiled at everyone who approached me. it's like JC and Sec school all over again. signing up for everything and taking pamphlets from every outstretched hand. the package hangs heavier and heavier and then after the whole hub-bub, you decided none of everything REALLY piques your interest. at all.
So that was Matriculation. Choices suddenly EXPLODES in your face. you know it's like, when you were in JC, the Students' Council was the only body organizing a whole truckload of events that most people havta attend whether they like it or not. But here in nus, it's like EVERYONE is organizing EVERYTHING. the sheer
Amount of activities awaiting you. it's like taking a five 10kg sacks of rice and pouring it over you, over and over again, each grain symbolic of each activity. so much so that at the end of it all, well at least for me, i'm just gonna enjoy the freedom of having no obligations to whateva society or club or union.
simply put, we're spoilt for choice. too many many many choices. and so simply concluded, i choose to slack. lol.
