:: on god ::
tmr i'm going to go for Q's baptism ceremony. it's a first for me. went down to causeway point to get him a lil gift... took really long to choose something which i hope he'll like...but anyway.. that's not the main point.
got to talking with the salesperson in the shop cuz i was trying on a thousand CDs to find one i THINK Q wld lik. and she started telling me all about Christ. yeah well.. most of the stuff she said was mostly what i've always heard. she was saying how God talks to us, and went on to tell me about this evangelist, and a certain "miracle".
One day this evangelist was somewhere in Africa, preaching about God. God spoke to him and told him to prompt this certain girl, tell her about Christ and ask her if she wants to accept Him into her life. When he asked her, "Do you want to accept Christ into your life?", she replied, "I love Christ.... but i love my boyfriend more! And my boyfriend Hates Christ! so... i can't accept Him." The very next day, the girl died. When the evangelist read the news of her death in an accident on the papers, he fell off his chair and felt extremely bad. But God said to him, "Do not feel bad. I've already told you to tell her, but she refused to accept me. It's not your fault."
she then told me about the Book of Life. mentioned that, those who do not accept Christ into their lives, the names will not be in the Book of Life so when He comes down to earth soon, those people will all go to Hell. She then said this,
"It's not about how good you are you know, it's about whether you accept Christ or not."
I'm sure that's not the doctrine of Christianity. So the whole point is just about accepting Him so I can go to Heaven? so i can live forever? be granted Eternal life? And what's all the exclusiveness all about?
Why would God, if he's all that perfect and good and benevolent, cast good people, who live as christians ought to live, behave as christians ought to behave, into the depth of Hell? and at the same time, bring those who accepted His name through to Heaven's gates, when some of them are even MORE sinful than non-believers? isn't that kinda self-centred?
They say God made Man in His likeness, created the world for us. and in the end, we turn against Him, put Him in the docks. So he got angry, and wanted to punish Man for our sins. Like a parent punishing a misbehaved child. Ok, fair enough. So He wants to punish His children who dun accept Him too. If that's a loving parent, there's sth wrong with the concept of Love. Yet, if he dun punish those who disobey Him, there's no reason why people shd obey Him, right?
Wrong. People should obey their parents not because they're afraid to be punished, but because they love them, and dun want to hurt them. We should accept Him, because we want to. NOT BECAUSE WE ARE AFRAID FOR OUR OWN FATE, LIFE, WHATEVER.
That's the whole hoo-ha about Christianity. The Punishment thing. The Judgement Day thing. Heaven and Hell. The Whole EXCLUSIVENESS thing.
is this the TRUE religion? NO.
.... sigh. thoughts?
